The First Step Towards A Treatment Plan Right For You

Your consultation at Crown House Dental

Here at your Egham dentist we ask that we see you for a consultation before specific types of treatments can go ahead.

We offer all kinds of professional cosmetic, restorative and general dentistry and many treatments are heavily in demand. Often patients want to come in and get started right away because understandably, having a new smile is exciting! But the consultation is often the very first step in your journey, and it forms an important part of that journey.

We don't always need to see you for a consultation before treatment, but sometimes we do, and we wanted to tell you why that is.

What Is A Consultation?

A consultation is our first meeting with you to discuss the treatment you want. It forms the first step in your detailed, bespoke treatment plan moving forward.

The time it lasts for depends on the treatment that you are coming in to talk to us about. Some consultations need to be longer because there is more to discuss and we need more time to do important diagnostics like X-rays or to take impressions of your teeth or gums. Some consultations can be shorter as the screening process is less detailed.

We can book your consultation during our opening hours at a time most convenient to you. Just call us on 01784432641 and our friendly dental team will help you. They will book you an appointment during our opening hours, which are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm, and ensure you are booked in with the right member of our team. They can also provide you with some basic information over the 'phone if you need it.

When Does A Consultation Occur?

The consultation is the very first appointment you will have with us to talk about a treatment you are interested in. It is the very first thing that we do to check your oral health, do any diagnostics that you require and provide you with the opportunity to get all the information you need to make an informed decision about your treatment moving forward. By doing a consultation first, your Egham dentist can ensure you're offered treatments that are going to give you the results you want.

What Happens During A Consultation?

During your consultation your Egham dentist will want to start with a friendly conversation about what you've come in to see us for. We want to have a greater understanding of your needs and will ask you about things like:

  • The treatment you are interested in
  • The results you expect
  • What you believe the problem to be
  • How long you expect treatment to last/ how much time you're willing to put in
  • Whether or not you require support with sedation
  • What your budget is
  • Whether or not you have medical conditions/ take any medication
  • Whether or not you are trying to get pregnant
  • If you have any outstanding dental needs

The more we know, the more we can ensure your bespoke treatment is right for you. If needed, we will also perform scans and X-rays to check what is going on beneath the gum level.

It may be certain treatments are not suitable for you, or that you need medical treatment for dental issues before anything cosmetic can be done. The sooner we know this, the sooner we can adapt your treatment plan to suit your needs and suitability.

Our professional team will always seek out as much information as possible so they can provide you with a detailed treatment plan. We want to provide you with costs, timescales, result forecasts and any other useful information so you can make an informed decision about your future treatment.

Why Does A Consultation With Your Egham Dentist Matter?

We treat all of our patients like individuals. So a one-to-one consultation with you means that we can provide you with the individual attention that you deserve.

During the consultation you can find out all about prices, the different cosmetic dentistry treatments and restorative treatments we offer, the timescales involved and the results you can expect. We provide some useful information on our website but, it will never be as detailed and individual as it is when we have a consultation with you. Your consultation enables us to give you the information you need to make the best possible choice and enables us to get the information we need to provide you with the best possible results.

Is A Consultation Always Required?

In some instances we may be able to offer your treatment during your consultation and we will make you aware of that when you book in, if that is the case. However, we always reserve the right to decline treatment if we find you are currently unsuitable for it. When you ring us on 01784432641 to book your appointment, we will take a few details from you and let you know if you may be able to have treatment or start the treatment process when you visit us. Regardless of the treatment you are coming to see us about, we will always ensure you have all relevant information you need to make an informed decision and we never carry out work until you have given us your permission to do so.

Isn't A Consultation A Checkup?

Consultations differ from checkups in a few different ways. Mainly the difference is because a consultation is to check that you can have the treatment you are interested in. The consultation also involves you receiving all the relevant information.

With a checkup, we really are focusing on your day-to-day oral health and to check any dental work you have. We are also looking for changes in your oral health, diagnosing oral health issues and treating them moving forward. Sometimes a checkup can be a little consultation in that you can always mention treatments you are interested in and we can give you some information there and then. However, usually a complete consultation is needed to afford the right amount of time to treatment planning.
